They Grow Up Slow

They Grow Up Slow

I bring a baby home.

Someone says, “Watch out, they grow up fast”!

So I watch.

But she grows up slow.

She is the same cuddly little girl the next day.

And the next, and the next. And the next. And the week after that.

This is a long time!

There are many years, many seconds of baby-time with many smiles and hugs and laughs.

There are many minutes, many days of learning to crawl, walk, dance, sing. La la!

And it is the first day of the next.

They grow up slow.

(Author’s note: there are no references to this idea on Google searches. Humans are capable of 25 “moments” per second. In other words, we can take in 25 stimuli per second. A weekend is approximately 5.7 million moments long. Your child’s presence is a gift to be cherished, as long as you live.)

They Grow Up Slow

Maybe one of the shortest blogs in the world, with only one entry, it is an experiment to see if it reaches Number One in a Yahoo or Google search. Although the saying "they grow up fast" is basically a lament and a reminder to enjoy babies, there are no writings on the better saying "they grow up slow." So here one is, in children's book manuscript form.
